Redmi Note 8 Pro gets new variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage

Xiaomi has introduced a new variant of the Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. The new version has arrived as the top-end model of the handset. The company has launched the new Redmi Note 8 Pro variant in its home market of China at the moment. As of now, there’s no word when the phone maker will be releasing the new model in other markets. In India, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is currently available in three RAM and storage configurations – 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 128GB.

For those unaware, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro was launched as the company’s first smartphone with a 64-megapixel primary camera at the rear. The handset utilises Samsung’s BRIGHT GW1 64MP ISOCELL sensor. The main sensor is accompanied by an 8-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 2-megapixel ultra-macro shooter, and a 2-megapixel sensor for depth sensing. On the front, the smartphone has a 20-megapixel camera that’s placed inside the waterdrop notch above the screen.

Talking about the other specs, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 6.53-inch full HD+ display with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G90T processor. Software-wise, the device boots Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out of the box. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and A-GPS with GLONASS.

Design-wise, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features almost non-existent bezels on all the sides. At the rear, the phone has a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 that’s curved towards the sides to provide an ergonomic and premium appeal. The fingerprint sensor of the smartphone is placed under the primary camera module on the back. A 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support keeps the whole package running.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro’s 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB models are priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively. The most high-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is available foR Rs 17,999.
