Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S with quad cameras to launch in Malaysia on March 23rd

Recently, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi launched its Note 9 series in India. The lineup consists of Note 9 Pro and Pro Max smartphones. Now, the Chinese smartphone brand is set to announce the Redmi Note 9S in Malaysia on March 23rd. The company teased the smartphone on its Malaysian Twitter handle. The teasers reveal a square quad-camera module and a centre-aligned punch-hole camera. The Note 9S would be the third variant in Redmi Note 9 lineup. 

Xiaomi had last launched a device with an ‘S’ moniker in the Note 7 series, but skipped this for the Note 8 lineup. Apart from the quad-cameras and punch-hole display, there is not much information on the Redmi Note 9s. The smartphone is expected to debut as a toned-down version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max. It will also carry a cheaper price tag. We will know more about the smartphone at the launch event. 

Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max specifications and features

Both the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max share the same specifications apart from the camera, RAM and storage configurations and battery charging speeds. Apart from the primary sensor, both the variants have the same setup comprising of an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth camera. The Pro variant features a 48MP primary sensor while the Pro Max has a 64MP main shooter. The former supports 33W fast charging while the latter offers 18W charging speeds.

The smartphones feature an FHD+ ‘DotDisplay’ measuring 6.67-inches. The devices come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a curved glass back panel. The Redmi Note 9 series is equipped with a Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with Adreno an 618 GPU. The smartphones are powered by 5,020mAh battery units. 

The Redmi Note 9 Pro starts at Rs 12,999 for the 4GB + 64GB option, while the 6GB + 128GB variant costs Rs 15,999. The Pro Max’s base variant i.e. 6GB + 64GB is priced at Rs 14,999. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB configurations will retail at Rs 16,999 and Rs 18,999, respectively. The Pro variant will go on sale from tomorrow while the Pro Max will be available for purchase starting March 25th.
