Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 Launched In India: Price, Specifications

The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 smartphones have been announced in India through a event in New Delhi. The Redmi Y3 is a selfie-focused smartphone from the company, whereas the Redmi 7 is the latest budget-friendly handset. Except for the 32-megapixel “Super Selfie Camera” on the Redmi Y3, both phones are packed with similar specs.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 are both equipped with polycarbonate bodies coupled with a P2i nano-coating for splash resistance. These phones are fitted with 6.26-inch IPS LCD displays with a waterdrop notch. They offer HD+ resolution of 1,520 x 720 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The displays of both devices are TUV Rheinland approved. Hence, users will not experience problems like eye fatigue since these phones can filter harmful blue rays from the screens.

The Snapdragon 632 SoC powers the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 smartphones. The Redmi Y3 features up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of native storage whereas the Redmi 7 has up to 3GB of RAM and it an internal storage of 32GB. Both phones offer dedicated microSD card slots for expanding storage. MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie OS comes loaded on the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 smartphones. The Y3 comes with dual pyrolytic graphite sheets that decreases its surface temperature by 2 degrees.

The Redmi Y3 sports an impressive 32-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The AI Beautify 4.0 is available on the device for enhancing the selfie shots. The handset has been optimized to shoot brighter selfie shots in darker conditions. The front camera also comes with other features like auto HDR, AI portrait selfie, 80-degree group selfie shots, screen flash and full HD video recording with EIS. For shake-free selfies, users can simply show the palm to the front camera to capture selfie shots remotely. Its rear side features a dual camera system with a 12-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For the dual cameras, the Redmi Y3 offers features like AI portrait mode and AI scene detection across 33 different categories, integrated Google Lens and 60 fps full HD video shooting along with EIS.

On the other side, the Redmi 7 features a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. It comes with features like auto HDR, AI beauty, AI portrait mode and AI face unlock. Its back panel is fitted with the same 12-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup found on the Redmi Y3. It comes with features like dual-tone LED flash, AI scene detection, AI portrait mode, inbuilt Google Lens and 60 fps full HD video recording.

The Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 are both packed with 4,000mAh batteries that support 10W charging. The other features of both smartphones include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, rear-facing fingerprint reader,, microUSB 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 Price and Availability

The Redmi Y3 comes in two models – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. They are priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999 respectively. The phone comes in colors like Prime Black, Elegant Blue and Bold Red. The first sale of the phone will begin on April 30th at 12pm through Amazon, and Mi Homes. Airtel subscribers can take advantage of up to 1120GB 4G data along with unlimited calls.

The Redmi 7 variants include 2GB RAM + 32GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. They are priced at Rs 7,999 and Rs 8,999 respectively. The colour options are Lunar Red, Comet Blue and Eclipse Black.

The first sale of the Redmi 7 will be carried out on April 29th at 12pm through platforms like, Mi Homes and Amazon India. Jio is offering double data benefits of up to 4 years along with a cashback of Rs 2,400 for the buyers of Redmi 7. The Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 phones will be also available through Xiaomi’s offline partners later on.
