Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 4 in India in January. If reports are true, the Note 4 will be Xiaomi’s first smartphone to come to India in 2017. It is the successor to the Redmi Note 3 which was their best selling product of 2016.
The Redmi Note 4 is already on sale in China and was launched way back in Aug 2016. The phone has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Powering it is the Helio X20 Deca-core processor with 3GB of RAM onboard. However, reports point out that Xiaomi will be launching the Note 4 with a Snapdragon 625 processor in India. This move is highly possible as recent Xiaomi phones (Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3s) featured Snapdragon processors.
The Note 4 was launched in two variants in China; 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 64GB storage. The storage is further expandable up to 128GB. Xiaomi may very well bring the same configuration to India. The phone runs MIUI 8 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The phone features a 13-megapixel camera with PDAF and a f/2.0 aperture. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The Note 4 is a Dual SIM device and has a hybrid SIM slot. The phone houses a 4100mAh battery under the metal unibody. It also sports a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing.
The Redmi Note 4 is currently priced at 999 Yuan in China which roughly translates to a cost of Rs 10,000 in India. It is possible that Xiaomi will either replace the Redmi Note 3 or give it a price cut and price the Redmi Note 4 in its place.
