Xiaomi’s upcoming smartwatch may come equipped with Wear OS by Google, reveals a new report by 9to5Google. To recall, Xiaomi recently unveiled the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro at MWC 2023 for the global market, and now it is said to be working on a new smartwatch.
The name of the Xiaomi smartwatch with Wear OS is yet to be revealed. In all likelihood, it could be the Xiaomi Watch 2 or Watch 2 Pro. Xiaomi’s high-end smartwatches, like the Watch S1 Pro, run on Android, but there is no support for Google apps and services. Hence, Xiaomi touts that its smartwatches come equipped with the “MIUI Watch OS.” The Wear OS-powered Xiaomi smartwatch is expected to offer access to Google apps and services.

Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro
Nothing much is known about the upcoming Xiaomi watch that will run on Wear OS. The report claims that the device will release under the “Xiaomi Watch” branding. This again suggests that it could be called the Watch 2.
Users will be able to manage the smartwatch using the Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear) app, claims the report. It appears that the company is planning to launch it sometime in 2023. Hopefully, the rumour mill will spill more information on it in the coming weeks.
Samsung adopted the Wear OS on the Galaxy Watch 5 series, and Google’s Pixel Watch also runs on it. Hence, it appears that Xiaomi could be planning to rival these brands in future.
Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro
The Xiaomi S1 Pro smartwatch, which debuted alongside the Xiaomi 13 series at MWC 2023, offers a 1.47-inch AMOLED screen with 480 x 480 pixels of resolution, MIUI Watch OS, and comes equipped with a stainless-steel chassis, a rotating crown, and a physical button. It comes with support for GPS and satellite positioning.
The Watch S1 Pro offers 5ATM water resistance. According to Xiaomi, the 500mAh battery of the Watch S1 Pro can last up to 14 days once it is completely charged. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro has various health and fitness tracking features, such as sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and blood oxygen monitoring. It comes in silver and black colour options.
