Asus, the Taiwan-based has unveiled the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite, a toned down version of the Zenfone 4 Selfie. This is yet another addition to the fourth generation of Zenfone smartphones. Similar to the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, the Zenfone 4 Selfie (Single-Camera) and Zenfone 4 Selfie (Dual-Camera), the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite is also aimed for the selfie enthusiasts. The device saw its unveiling in the Philippines and could see its launch in India soon enough.
According to Asus’ official Philippines site, the phone sports a similar design language as the other phones that were recently launched in the Zenfone 4 series, featuring a metal body, with antenna lines running on the back. On the front, the fingerprint sensor is embedded in the home button and is a capacitive touch key. The smartphone will ship in four colour variants which are Deepsea Black, Mint Green, Rose Pink, and Sunlight Gold.
Up front, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display, also analogous to its other siblings’ display modules having a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. When calculated, its pixel density comes up to about 236 PPI which is decent but not impressive. Asus has also equipped the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite with a 2.5D curved glass which provides a more pleasant user experience.
Camera and Features
As the name suggests, this offering from Asus is designed primarily to click selfies. In accordance with that, the device features a 13-megapixel sensor having an aperture of f/2.0 on the front. Similar to its siblings, the front camera is also coupled with a front-facing LED flash for capturing images in low light.
On the reverse side of the phone is where its primary camera is located. The primary camera also features a 13-megapixel sensor with autofocus and PDAF. It is also paired with an LED flash for low-light photography. To store user data, Asus will ship the phone in two storage variants, viz. 16GB and 32GB. This can be further expanded via the aid of a microSD card up to a whopping 2TB. In addition to this, the phone will also offer 100GB of cloud storage on Google Drive for a period of 1 year.
Performance, Connectivity & Battery
Underneath its hood, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite packs in a quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset which is paired with 2GB of RAM for a seamless user interface. The smartphone will run Asus’ custom interface dubbed as ZenUI 4.0 which is built on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.
On the connectivity front, the phone offers support for 4G and VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Micro-USB port. The phone draws its power from a 3000mAh battery unit which should last it through a day when combined with Asus’ inbuilt power saving settings.
The phone was launched with a price tag of $156 (roughly Rs. 10,200) for the 16GB variant and $176 (roughly Rs. 11,500) for the 32GB one.
