Homegrown brand Ziox has launched a new smartphone which is designed for selfie enthusiasts and is dubbed as the Duopix F9. The major highlight of this device is its dual selfie cameras. The phone is priced at Rs. 6,499 making it yet another budget smartphone with dual cameras from the company; the first one being the Duopix R1. Let’s have a closer look at what this phone has to offer.
Design and Display
The smartphone features a glossy finish that makes it feel more premium than what its price tag would suggest. This, however, would make the phone prone to fingerprints, so you might want to put on a skin or case to avoid that. Up front, the phone has a 5-inch IPS LCD display having a resolution of 1,280 x 720. This means that the phone will be able to display content with a decent amount of detail and quality, however, if you are looking to view high-resolution movies, then you may be disappointed. The screen on the Duopix F9 is layered with 2.5D curved glass which does improve the user experience.
Camera and Software
In the optics department, the Duopix F9 does shine. As mentioned above, the major highlight of this phone is its dual-selfie camera. This comprises of an 8-megapixel sensor clubbed together with another 2-megapixel snapper. This means that the phone should be able to capture good images. However, we know for a fact that it is not only hardware which is responsible for clicking good photos. Consider the Pixel 2 for example, which captures better images than most dual-camera phones available on the market. Either way, including a dual-camera setup is a good step moving forward. On the back of the phone is where a single 8-megapixel sensor coupled with a quad-flash is located. This ensures good images will be captured even in poor lighting. On the software side of things, this phone will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Hardware and Storage
Speaking of performance, the phone is powered by a quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.3GHz. This is backed with 1GB of RAM, which may seem slightly on the lower side. In comparison smartphones like the Redmi 5A which offers up to 2GB RAM for Rs. 5,000. In terms of storage, the Duopix F9 comes with 16GB of storage which can be expanded through a microSD card.
Connectivity and Battery
The Duopix F9 offers all the standard connectivity solutions including 4G with VoLTE and below, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The phone has a 3.5mm jack included as well if you are looking to connect the phone to an audio peripheral. On the bottom, the phone has a microUSB 2.0 for charging its 2,500mAh battery unit. This port can also be used for transferring data to and from the smartphone.
Despite being a phone with a slightly less-powered processor and a small battery, the company has compensated it in the camera and design department making it a good contender in the budget smartphone price segment. What are your thoughts on this phone?
