ZTE has unveiled the Axon A20 5G smartphone in China. It is the world’s first smartphone to feature the all-new under-display camera technology. Since the selfie camera is tucked under the AMOLED display, the Axon 20 5G manages to offer an impressive screen to body ratio.
Apart from the 32-megapixel under-screen selfie camera, the Axon A20 5G features a huge display with a tall aspect ratio. The handset is fitted with a 64-megapixel quad-camera system on its back. It houses a decent battery that supports fast charging technology.
ZTE Axon 20 5G specifications and features
The Axon 20 5G features a 6.92-inch AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution, a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The 10-bit color display promises realistic color reproduction and 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut. Instead of an earpiece, the phone makes use of screen sound cast technology to emit audio through the display. The AMOLED screen is also integrated with a fingerprint sensor.
The ZTE Axon 20 5G is incorporated with natural pixel arrangement technology, which allows an independent chip to transmit instructions to the drive circuit. This allows the screen area where the camera is present to display normally when not taking pictures. There is a dedicated drive screen display chip that can effectively solve the display synchronization issue with the other areas of the display. Also, ZTE has made use of ultra-high permeable micron level materials for enhancing the display’s light transmittance and suppressing diffraction in the area where the camera is placed. These technologies allow the 32-megapixel under-display camera of the Axon 20 5G to capture impressive selfie shots.
The rear panel of the Axon 20 5G features a quad-camera system. It comprises a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide snapper with 120-degree FOV, a 2-megapixel macro lens with a 4cm focal length, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The rear camera comes with support for EIS, 20.5:9 video recording, and 60fps 4K video recording.
The ZTE Axon 20 5G runs MiFavor 10.5 based on Android 10. The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 765G and up to 8GB of LPPDR4x RAM. The phone ships with UFS 2.1 storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The handset is backed by a 4,220mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. When it comes to connectivity, the Axon 20 5G comes with dual SIM card slots, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and USB-C. Lastly, the Axon 20 5G weighs 198 grams and its thickness is 7.98mm.
