Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) 3G vs Motorola New Moto E (2nd Gen)

Both these devices have the identical shape, size and form. The 4.5 inch screen has a resolution of 960x540 pixels which translates to a decent pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (PPI). Although both these devices sport a Quad-core processor, there is a considerable difference in terms of performance. Moto E (2nd Gen) 3G is powered by a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 Quad-core processor. The chip is very old and the phone might become sluggish in the near future and may not be able to handle high-end graphic apps. Fortunately, Moto E (2nd gen) 4G has a 1.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor which is comparatively newer than Snapdragon 200 and hence the device will perform smoothly. Both these device have 1GB RAM which is bare minimum these days to run a smartphone smoothly on Lollipop. Both of them have an internal storage of 8GB, out of which approximately 4GB is available to the user.

Motorola is often criticised for providing poor camera specifications in their devices and so is the case of these devices. They sport a 5 megapixel camera without flash. The front facing camera is not great. The VGA resolution secondary camera cannot take good selfies. But considering the better hardware in the 4G model, it may be able to capture better shots than 3G one. HD video recording is supported in them at 720p. The duo have the same 2390 mAh battery which should be sufficient to last for a day under normal usage.

It makes sense to go for Moto E (2nd Gen) 4G model because by paying a little extra money you will get a better processor. The 4G connectivity is always useful to have because you never know when you might just upgrade to 4G connectivity.
