Editor Notes

The Galaxy Grand Duos and Galaxy Core are two different kinds of phones. While the Core is more of an upper entry-level handset, the Grand stands above that in the mid-range category. They do share some similarities though; both have a 800 x 480 pixel resolution while there’s a massive difference in screen size (4.3 inches on the Core vs. 5 inches on the Grand Duos). Both have a gigabyte of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. The primary difference comes in the chipset — while both may talk of similar-sounding 1.2GHz dual-core chips, the Core uses an older ARM Cortex A5 based architecture while the Grand uses the newer ARM Cortex A9. The Core has a run-of-the-mill Adreno 203 graphics chip, while the Grand Duos uses the better Broadcom VideoCore IV; that enables 1080p Full HD video recording among other graphical advantages. Speaking of camera, the Grand Duos has a 8 megapixel sensor, while the Core has a 5 megapixel. Front-facing camera is also 2MP on the Grand, whereas just VGA (0.3MP) on the Core. Lastly, the Grand has a bigger 2100 mAh battery, which is less than 1800 mAh battery on the Core. But remember that there’s a physical distinction between the two — the Core is much smaller and lighter in size than the Grand; which can be classified in the phablet category.
