Editor Notes

The Galaxy Quattro came as a follow-up to the Grand a few months after its launch. The two phones have many similarities inside and even look similar. The first distinction comes with the screen size — the Quattro has a 4.7-inch screen, which is a little smaller than the 5-inch display on the Grand Duos. But both have the same 800 x 480 pixel resolution; which in today’s day and age on a screen this big isn’t really pixel dense (we’re speaking with respect to both models).

But more importantly, the main feature that the Quattro is advertised is its quad-core processor (the Grand Duos has a dual-core chip). But as explained in this PriceBaba blog post, the chip in the Quattro is based on ARM Cortex A7 while the Grand, despite having two cores less, the two present are based on the Cortex A9 architecture. Also, the Grand Duos has a better graphics chip, thus allowing it to record videos in Full HD 1080p (the Quattro does non-HD video recording at 480p resolution). Speaking of cameras, the front-facing camera on the Grand Duos is a 2MP sensor, while its little brother has a lower VGA (0.3MP) resolution.

All in all, the Quattro is a slightly watered down version of the Grand, available for a few thousand rupees cheaper.
