Editor Notes

The first and primary advantage of the Moto G is that it’s updatable to Android KitKat version whereas chances don’t seem to be that great for the Xperia L to receive an update. There is hardly any difference in their screen size, but the Moto G has a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, while the XPERIA L has 854 x 480 pixels, thereby delivering a much crisper pixel density. One major distinction is that Moto G runs the 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core processor while the Xperia L is powered by a 1GHz dual core Snapdragon processor. This makes the performance of Moto G much faster and cleaner. Another deserving mention is that the Moto G is a dual SIM phone, while the XPERIA L supports only one SIM.

The two phones address storage space differently — though Xperia L has a fixed internal storage of only 8GB, one can expand it to up to 32GB by microSD card. Moto G lacks the microSD card provision but comes with 16GB internal storage. Remember that many apps and games cannot be installed on an SD card slot, so having more internal memory can be beneficial. The Xperia L has a 8MP primary camera whereas the Moto G has 5MP sensor. But the front-facing camera on the Moto G is a higher 1.3MP, while the XPERIA L just has a VGA (0.3MP) sensor. The battery on the Moto G (2070 mAh) might be bigger than one on the XPERIA L (1750 mAh), but considering the HD display and faster processor, it might not give a strategic advantage to the Moto G in terms of battery life.
