The MacBook Pro is an excellent Ultrabook, factoring in it's portability, performance, battery life and weight. All of this is possible due to the 13.3 inch display, the Intel Core i5 backed by 8 GB of RAM, Li-Po battery and a weight of 1.5 kg.
The Good
  • Fast and Reliable
  • Portable
  • Premium build quality
  • Supreme performance
  • Smooth UI
The Bad
  • Limited storage of 128GB
  • Bugs in the UI

Despite Apple launching its new MacBook Pro range in a later year, the 2015 model is still incredibly attractive than its lower priced rivals, great performance and fantastic screen. It makes the MacBook Air look kind of pointless and sets a very high bar for rivals to match.
The Good
  • Fast and reliable
  • Battery life
The Bad
  • Not useful to gamers
  • Expensive

Apple Retina MacBook Pro 13-inch 2015 Features

Apple has led the notebook market for several years now. In a market scenario where mobiles are taking over the world and PC consumption & sales are dipping, Cupertino has managed to stay ahead of the market. The MacBook Pro series has been a good power laptop from Apple with a unibody aluminium design, an innovative track-pad with multi touch gestures and the slick Mac OS X.

History of MacBooks

The original MacBook Pro weighed ~2kgs and had an optical drive. The same came with many frustrations like a bulky design, poor display resolution and USB ports close to each other on the left size that made it difficult to attach multiple accessories together. While the MacBook Pro was still a good device, doing better than most Windows based systems, Apple fans were growing impatient and that's when the MacBook Pro Retina came into existence.

Apple has had a history of dropping support for standards that are widely used by not futuristic in their view. A famous example of the same is dropping support for the Floppy Drive back in the days. The Retina series does something similar with no optical drive, something the MacBook Air had already done, but most work laptops still carried one. With this addition, none of the Apple's MacBook designs recently unveiled have a DVD drive.

Introducing the MacBook Pro Retina

The MacBook Pro Retina as the name suggests brings in a high resolution display (2560 x 1600). The Retina branding first came into existence with the iPhone 4 and it is popularly said that 'once you go retina, you can't go back'. The same remains true for Apple's MacBook with Retina display too.

Apple has the same good old backlit keyboard, a wide trackpad and a SD card slot on the Retina Pro. It has taken away an old frustration by moving the two USB ports on different sides of the laptop. Apple has also brought in a HDMI port which is a big win for folks who want to connect a projector or external monitor / TV. The move was surprising as Apple always promoted its own Thunderbolt port, but guess popular demand has won, unlike Blue-ray, HDMI has prevailed.

Memory & Storage

The Retina Pro is priced in the premium segment so don't expect it to come cheap. It has SSD storage and all variants come with a minimum of 8GB RAM. You can't upgrade storage or RAM on these laptops just like the Air series, so choose the version you want wisely depending on your storage requirements. 8GB of ram is good and sadly you can't find a 16GB RAM version in India, just in case you wanted it. Given the Solid State storage, the laptop is faster and bundles all variants of Intel Core processors.

Apple has managed to reduce the weight and thickness of the MacBook Pro with the new Retina line-up. It now weighs only 1.58kg and the thickness is a handsome 0.71-inches. Apple has also brought in a thinner charging port with the Magsafe 2 connector. The Magsafe 2 is still the good old magnetic design but supports the thinner build of the Air & Pro series laptops.
