Gionee M5 Marathon Plus

Lately Gionee has been focusing on phones that pack a massive battery to address the industry's major problem. The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is yet another device to sport a huge battery of 5020mAh. Apart from the battery the device also packs some decent specifications but unfortunately does not justify the overall package for the price the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is offered.

Display and Design
On the front of the device sits a 6 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The display size does sound huge and definitely not for people looking for one hand usage, however people looking for a great multimedia experience are in for a treat here. The display is sharp & crisp enough at 368PPI to not see any pixelation. In terms of build quality, the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus rocks a Metal Unibody design.

Hardware and Features
In terms of performance, the specifications look merely average and nothing worth the price to expect any exceptional performance. Gionee Marathon M5 Plus comes with a MediaTek MT6753 Octa Core chipset which is clocked at 1.3GHz and paired along is 3GB of RAM. The phone's operating system is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Gionee's Amigo UI 3.1 running on top of it. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button on the front.

Camera and Storage
For photos, you get a 13MP sensor on the rear of the device with an LED Flash, whereas on the front lies a 5MP camera for those selfies and video calling needs. The rear camera can record videos up to 1080p @ 30fps. Talking about the storage, you get ample 64GB of internal storage to store all your data and in the rare case if you still run out of space, you can expand the storage up to 128GB more via a MicroSD card.

Battery and Connectivity
Like mentioned earlier, the Gionee Marathon M5, as the name rightly suggests is capable of running a long marathon with it's massive 5020mAh battery. And talking about connectivity, the phone supports Dual GSM+CDMA setup both needing to be a Micro SIMs. It is a 4G enabled device with VoLTE support as well.

Competition
For the price of around Rs. 27,000 you can definitely get a far better performing device like OnePlus 2,LG Nexus 5X and the likes, however if you are specifically looking for a big battery device with a huge 6 inch display then the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is worth considering.
