LG Nexus 5X Features

The Nexus 5 was a hit phone from LG in 2013, largely because it had all the hardware any power user could ask for, topped with buttery smooth performance of stock Android. More importantly, it didn’'t cost a lot of money. In 2014, Google’s Nexus 6 made by Motorola was largely a dud because of its enormous size and high asking price. Since then, a lot of people had been asking for a redo of the Nexus 5. And in 2015, Google has done just that with the LG Nexus 5X. Although it is taller and wider by a few millimeters than the original, the Nexus 5X is still more comfortably-sized than its big brother, the Nexus 6P. The Nexus 5X is available in Carbon Black and Ice Blue in India but is available in Quartz White internationally.

The slightly increased 5.2-inch LCD display still bears the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The processor has been upgraded to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core chip. It still has 2GB of RAM, which although satisfactory, isn’t as ample as the 3 or 4GB of RAM found in phones in its price range. It comes in 16GB and 32GB storage variants with no microSD card slot. The cameras are upped to a 12 megapixel sensor with a 1.55 micrometer pixel size, which should translate into better photo quality, especially in darker conditions. The front-facing selfie camera is also bumped up to 5 megapixels.

The other interesting thing placed next to that camera at the back is a fingerprint scanner that Google calls ‘Nexus Imprint’. It works a lot like Touch ID on the iPhone, or scanners found on phones like the Galaxy S6. Its placement at the back means your index fingers should naturally place themselves on it when you pick the phone up. Unfortunately, it will be physically impossible to use the scanner when the phone is kept on a table though.

There’s a reversible USB Type C connector, which isn'’t as common as microUSB is today. So, you’ll have to buy an appropriate Type C to USB converter to use it with regular chargers. Speaking of charging, battery life was one of the major pain points of original Nexus 5 owners, and they’ll be glad to know that the battery capacity has been bumped up to a healthy 2700mAh.

There are many reasons why you should prefer spending a few thousand rupees extra and buy the Nexus 6P. But the Nexus 5X isn'’t a bad choice for people wanting a reasonably sized phone with the latest version of Android and VoLTE support.

User Reviews for LG Nexus 5X (Total: 2)
By Raj Walia on January 3, 2017 | Verified Owner
I used the Nexus 5 before this then shifted to 5x last year. It's a perfect. I haven't faced any problem till date. Battery life. The battery life is fine if your usage isn't too heavy. However 4 hours of angry birds can pretty much kill it. Another issue is the overheating. It doesn't get uncomfortable, but you can feel it all right.
The Good
  • The touch is mighty sweet. It's very responsive and infallible
  • Multitasking is easy
  • Gaming is fun

I am using LG Nexus 5X for almost a year & half now, it works completely fine and fresh as it was before but with quite a lag of a mili second in clicking pictures. I think it's the best Nexus ever made & would prefer it over the highly priced Pixel.
The Good
  • The Latest Google Android updates are available here first compared to other devices. Also didn't have any issues till now.
The Bad
  • Just a little mili second lag in clicking pictures.
