Motorola Moto X Play Features

Unlike in the previous years, where Motorola had just one device under the Moto X moniker, this year Motorola has decided to give their customers an added set of options. The Motorola Moto X third generation is available in a fair few versions, you have the budget device that is the Moto X Play, you have the flagship device in Motorola Moto X Style and then you have the Motorola Moto X Force for those who like to use their smartphones slightly roughly. The Motorola Moto X Play is the entry level Moto X, primarily aimed at the budget conscious audience. The phone in terms of looks, is identical to the Motorola Moto X Style, though Motorola has definitely cut corners when it comes to the materials being used. The Moto X Style is more premium while the Play is largely built out of plastic or polycarbonate as they call it. Some of the features of the Motorola Moto X Play include:

  • The smartphone comes with a 5.5 inch LCD display with 1080 P resolution. This gives the phone a PPI of 401, which is pretty much a standard for phones in the market that are close to the Rs 20,000 mark like the Moto X Play is.
  • Motor X Play is available in two different memory variants. You have the 16 GB version and the 32 GB version, and both of them come with a slot for expansion via Micro SD slot.
  • In the engine room, driving the device is Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core chip with CPU cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. The RAM on board is 2 GB.
  • On the connectivity front, Moto X Play supports Dual SIM cards, with both of them capable of latching on to LTE in India. You have the usual set like Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC and FM Radio too.
  • The rear camera is 21 MP and comes with LED flashlight for support in low light photography. The front-facing camera is a 5 MP snapper, though, unlike the Moto X Style, there is no front facing flash here.
  • The phone is slightly heavy at 169 grams despite a plastic build and some credit for that goes to a gigantic 3630 mAh non-removable, Lithium Ion Polymer battery.
  • Motorola Moto X is a water resistant phone and comes with Android 5.1 out of the box.

I have been using this phone for past 10 months and it's been a pleasant experience. There is no lag in the phone. Camera is very good in ideal light conditions and takes some beautiful pictures. Display is crisp and Battery is decent to last one whole day with little juice still left. And it comes with the joy of having a stock android experience. There are few cons with this device. First it does not have a Gyroscope therefore not compatible with VR and also there are few apps who use gyroscope sensor so these apps wouldn't run on this device. And also it doesn't have a Fingerprint Scanner and a notifications LED and I really miss these features. Also this device generates some heat during charging But I think it's a common problem for almost all smartphones who supports turbo charging. One major issue I am facing with this device is SD card keeps unmounting and ejecting automatically in every few hours and it's so frustrating! I don't know if this is an issue with SD card or just a software bug. Keeping all these minor cons aside I feel it's still a good device overall and If only it had the fingerprint scanner, it would have been so hard to resist at the price.
The Good
  • Great Camera
  • Amazing Battery Life
  • Smooth Performance
The Bad
  • It does not have Fingerprint and gyroscope sensors
  • Not Waterproof

Simply amazing. Using motorola has been a very pleasant experience. Starting with its best feature i.e. its camera. Both front and back. Hardware is good enough with regular software updates. Just its RAM spoils its image a bit otherwise its perfect.
The Good
  • Great camera
  • Good battery back-up
The Bad
  • Less RAM
