Overview
Samsung’s first-ever Mediatek powered phone is finally here. Well, the smartphone is indeed a mid-range smartphone from Samsung’s A-series line-up dubbed Samsung Galaxy A31. The smartphone packs in a Super AMOLED Display, good cameras, massive battery, and Mediatek’s Helio P65 chipset for optimum performance. Despite all of this, it still lags behind Samsung’s own Galaxy M31 when it comes to specs and value for money.
Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy A31 sports a 6.4 inch (16.26 cm) Super AMOLED display capped with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. A high pixel density of 411ppi furnishes vivid and crisper details. The bezel-less display comes with a Infinity-U design and has an aspect ratio of 20:9 to cater to a cinematic viewing experience. However, the display still seems a bit low-key and could have been better considering the price tag of the smartphone.
Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy A31 features a good quad-camera setup at the back with a 48MP camera as the primary sensor. Along with that, the smartphone houses an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 5MP camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, the smartphone features a 20MP camera for clicking selfies. Interestingly, the smartphone does support up to 8 x Digital Zoom along with a lot of other features including Auto Flash, Face detection, and Touch to focus.
Battery and Performance
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy A31 packs in Mediatek’s Helio P65 Octa-Core chipset clubbed with a Mali-G52 GPU to boost the overall gaming performance. The smartphone gets 6 GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 128 GB, which can be expanded up to 512 GB. Fuelling the device is a massive 5000mAh battery that also supports fast charging.
Software and Connectivity
The Samsung Galaxy A31 runs Android 10 out of the box with Samsung’s One UI 2.1 on top. For connectivity, the smartphone features a lot of options including Dual sim VoLTE support (Nano + Nano), Wi-Fi 802.11, ac/b/g/n/n 5GHz, GPS, Radio, and Bluetooth 5.0. The good thing is the smartphone also comes with NFC support and an on-screen fingerprint sensor. Besides, we also get to see a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.
