Before the Galaxy S5 went official, there were all sorts of rumours about what features it would have — a 2K display, a metallic body, Retina scanner to name a few. All those rumours are now put to rest as the Galaxy S5 doesn't have any of those. It's the same 1080p display like the Galaxy S4, but with a slightly bigger 5.2-inch screen size. While in some parts of the world, the Galaxy S5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.5GHz chip, in India the S5 will have Samsung's Exynos 5422 chip, coupled the same 2GB of RAM. What the Galaxy S5 does have is a fingerprint sensor in the home button just like the iPhone 5s. Next, it is IP67-certified for water and dust resistance, much like the high-end Sony XPERIA series. The most unique feature in the Galaxy S5 is the heart-rate sensor placed next to the LED flash at the back. The microUSB port on the phone now supports faster USB 3.0 speeds.

The camera system of the Galaxy S5 includes a 16 megapixel sensor at the back that supports 4K video recording (both the Snapdragon and the Exynos version this time, unlike the Note 3 which supported 4K video recording only on the Snapdragon variant). Another competitor that supports 4K video recording is the XPERIA Z2. The front-facing camera is the same 2MP sensor as the Galaxy S4.

On the software side, the look and feel of the TouchWIZ UI layer is toned down and flattened out to be up to date with the current design trends. It has some interesting features like a ultra power saving mode that lets the phone run for upto 24 hours on just 10 percent charge. Or there's Kids mode that limits the apps that others can access on your phone. Speaking of battery, the Galaxy S5 comes with a bigger 2800mAh battery.
