Quick Review of LG G Watch

The Good
  • Speedy user interface thanks to the Snapdragon 400 chip
  • Can get up to 3 days of battery life with power saving techniques, 1 day with heavy usage
  • Fairly crisp screen resolution
  • Water and dust resistant
The Bad
  • Not a classy design, looks like a square display stuck to your wrist
  • The pogo pin connector at the back suffers with wear and tear, can cause charging issues
  • Slightly heavy and not the most ergonomic design that'll take some getting used to
  • Won't receive the Android Wear 2.0 update and above

LG G Watch Features

LG was among the first manufacturers along with Samsung to team up with Google for the launch of its new Android Wear series. The LG G watch was among the first smartwatches to run on Android Wear alongside the Moto 360 and the Samsung Gear Live. The LG G watch is a simple smartwatch and looks pretty much like a tiny display with a strap. The features of the LG G watch are as follows.

  • The G Watch has a 1.65 inch LCD IPS display with a resolution of 280x280 pixels. The squarish dial looked nothing like a watch at the time of launch but over time people have accepted the design.
  • The watch is powered by a Snapdragon 400 Processor with only one core clocked at 1.2 GHz, unlike the quad core version in smartphones.
  • There is 512MB of RAM present on the smartwatch, which might seem less but is adequate for a smartwatch running Android Wear.
  • The 4GB of onboard storage can be used to store songs which can streamed to a bluetooth headset when paired with the watch.
  • The G Watch gets a charging dock with Pogo Pin connectors that charge the 400mAh battery. The dock has a MicroUSB port for charging but buyer will need to keep the dock handy.
  • This smartwatch is IP67 rated and is dust and water resistant.
  • The watch can deliver 2-3 days of use on a single charge and 2 days of use with the Always On mode switched on.
  • The G watch came in two colour options i.e. Black and White.
  • The watch has a silicone strap that is interchangable with any 22mm watch band.
  • Running on Android Wear the device is compatible with Android phones with Android 4.3 and above and supports iOS devices as well.

User Reviews for LG G Watch (Total: 2)
By SUDIPTA ROY CHOWDHRY on August 22, 2017 | Verified Owner
Excellent watch in such a low price.
The Good
  • * It's Good if you don't want to take your phone out of the pocket every time you receive a notification
  • * There are some bugs still but overall experience is good after 15 days of usage.
  • * Battery lasts for 2 days for normal use and with always on screen.
The Bad
  • * Installed and tried playing 2048 game but the charge dropped 40% within 10 mins of playing , so not very recommended for playing games though it charges up very fast like 100% in less than an hour

It is a very good watch which has all the new features in it. It is one of the cheapest available but a combination of hardware issues and need to iron out some of the software bugs means it’s not the complete Android Wear smartwatch package yet. It is worth the money.
The Good
  • Google Now notifications work well
  • Accurate voice recognition
  • Reasonable selection of early Android Wear apps
The Bad
  • Poor battery life
  • Plain, ordinary watch design
  • Poor outdoor visibility
