Elon Musk Says He’s Working On ‘TruthGPT’ – A Truth Seeking AI Chatbot

Highlights

  • Elon Musk announces he’s working on a new AI chatbot
  • It will be called  TruthGPT
  • The new AI chatbot will be a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe

Elon detailed his plans for the new AI chatbot during an interview with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, claiming that a new alternative approach is needed to avoid the destruction of humanity. “I’m going to start something which I call ‘Truth GPT’ or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” Musk said during the interview.

He added, “might be the best path to safety, in the sense that an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe.”

It was revealed last week that Musk has created an AI company called X.AI, with headquarters in Nevada. Nothing much is known about the company, but it might be the one working on TruthGPT as no other projects have been announced.

Elon Musk has claimed he’s working on a new ChatGPT alternative called TruthGPT.

This move from Elon Musk comes after he signed an open letter urging AI companies to take a six-month pause in AI development due to the “profound risks” to the society AI possesses. The new TruthGPT announcement comes as a direct U-turn from Elon Musk.

Elon Musk co-founded OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, in 2015 but left the company in 2018 to focus on Tesla and SpaceX. He tweeted the reasons for his departure, “Tesla was competing for some of the same people as OpenAI & I didn’t agree with some of what OpenAI team wanted to do.”

In the interview with Carlson, Musk also said, “I came up with the name and the concept (of OpenAI).”
